A team is characterized by shared vision and leadership, definable goals, clear roles/responsibilities and an effective process. Strong distinction is drawn in this module between the group as board or committee, and the differences from the qualities of a team. Relationships displaying respect, trust, and enjoyment for one another are essential to a team. A team also has a positive plan for addressing conflict. Coaching teams requires the ability to build a strong sense of consensus, and the ability to handle such distractions as monopolizers, the withdrawn, and the angry. Using ICF Core Competencies , this module addresses and supports the development of specific skills and tools for working most effectively with teams.

Participants are introduced to the structure of coaching relationships, plus a variety of coaching resources and tools, as well as creating models and frameworks for coaching conversations. Coaching principles and practices are disseminated through experiential practice. The International Coaching Federation Core Competencies and Code of Ethics are also reviewed in this session.

This 5-day course combines the Interim Ministry 1 (the work of the leader) and the Interim Ministry 2 (the work of the congregation) courses. It is designed for those individuals who have already discerned God’s call to interim ministry.
To enhance the learning experience, participants are required to complete six pre-work assignments. Class begins on Monday at 1:00 PM (ET) and ends at 4:00 PM on Friday. Fieldwork starts about 30 days after the last day of class and consists of five conference calls conducted in approximately 30-day intervals. Fieldwork expectations are explained in-depth during the training event. Note: Applicants who previously completed IM1, and who now wish to complete their training in order to be recognized as an Intentional Interim Minister, can join the on-going class at 8:30 AM on Wednesday and will finish at 4:00 PM on Friday.

Have you ever considered serving as a guide and encourager for a faith community in a role other than pastor or staff member? Have you looked for a different way to utilize your previous education, training and ministry experience to positively impact faith communities? Do you believe that you would find such work a meaningful ministry? If you can answer “Yes” to these questions, then you should consider training to become a consultant. To meet this growing need for qualified consultants, the Center for Congregational Health has designed a process to train and develop consultants to work with faith communities. The training seeks to integrate and utilize the best of biblical wisdom, spiritual insight, and healthy group dynamics in order to help faith communities and their leaders enhance their effectiveness in ministry. The training consists of a five-day classroom experience, followed by individual fieldwork and a series of teleconferences.

Coaching is an art. It is developed over time. The essential principles and practices are useful for a wide variety of settings. Continued growth and development of Coaching skills is necessary. Many in the church, business, or non-profit world have the responsibility to lead and work with a large cast of participants from wide and diverse backgrounds. It is expected that participants will have a thorough working knowledge of ICF Core Competencies and be able to exhibit those competencies and ethical guidelines through application and experiential exercises in coaching, observation and feedback.
Webinars will take place on five consecutive Tuesday afternoons, between 1:00 - 3:00 PM (ET), beginning on June 2, 2020. Instructions for connecting to the webinar will be emailed to registrants a few days prior to the event. The cost to participate in this 10-hour web-based practicum is $375.
