Many in my congregation will never know the extent to which they have benefited from my coaching conversations. For instance, my coach’s experience in the area of grief counseling provided me with insights into the stages of the grief process that my church may be experiencing after the loss of their pastor. After a recent coaching conversation, I was able to better explain to the staff and to the deacons the ramifications of a particular decision we needed to make regarding our Christmas Eve Communion, a service that contains various traditions the church may be associating with the former pastor. This kind of assistance serves as only one example of the kind of practical benefits the coaching experience provides both my congregation and me.

Developing leadership
skills is a career long challenge for most people. Clergy
have a very challenging leadership role in addition to
other pressing responsibilities.
The Center offers several intensive programs and processes
as well as special seminars that assist ministers. Quality
leadership development involves these elements:
Assessment
Challenge
Support
Each intensive program involves all of these elements.
Our seminars focus on specific topics that can help leaders.
What does a leader do when a church lacks energy?
How does a leader develop and function within a team?
What are a leader's gifts?
What do leaders do?
When is the right time to engage a critical issue in a
congregation?
Clergy can also find leadership development resources
in our Faith and Vocation
services.
